The Duality of a Fandom: “Invincible Brainrot”

What is “Invincible Brainrot”?

    In the growing audience of the show Invincible, a part of the fandom uses the classical internet method of making humor from the show's content, specifically the genre of “Brainrot” humor. Brain-rot humor is over-stimulating media with no cohesive meaning, identified by the way it makes the viewer feel a sort of mental fatigue. Most brain-rotted media consist of multiple overlapping sound effects that end abruptly and extend throughout the videos, with weird and low-quality edited images. Most “Invincible Brainrot” media contains random content that goes viral, which is then cut down and dumbed down to make irony and humor out of it. These videos explode when trailers are released and especially when episodes are released. Although the fandom seems to go insane when they have to wait for the next episodes, causing more crazy looking videos to come out.

    Around 2025, Season 3 had come to its end, and fans were in a mixed position, although many fans loved the show’s direction and action, others were criticizing Amazon Prime for the decrease in animation quality compared to seasons 1 and 2. Ongoing jokes about the animation team having to slide PNG files across the screen were popular, but the hype for the next season was still high, and the anticipation was an itch the fandom couldn’t scratch, so some sort of entertainment had to be made. “Invincible Brainrot” was created in the irony of animation quality and anticipation of the show. Many die-hard fans wishing for the show to deserve the proper treatment, resorted to this type of media, as they found it hilarious, but truly, it had its significance in making fun of the animation budget. It also showed the other side of the fandom that was deeply fascinated by the show’s themes and stories, and that these sorts of media kept them hooked on the show further. The “Invincible Brainrot” concept can be seen in many different shoes across all platforms, but what makes Invincible Brainrot special is its insanely fast production across the fanbase, creating a truce between the ones who want better for the show and the ones who enjoy it as it is.
