Car Emergency Kit for Cold Weather

By: Gage Snyder

which is that their cars do not have the things they need to help them in a snowstorm. Cold weather will drain your car's batteries faster, so it is very important that you have jumper cables or a portable jump starter with you at all times, not just in winter. The next thing you need to have is tools that you can use if something breaks. An example is tools to change your tires and jackstands to get your car up. Having duct tape is also very important and useful for a quick fix on your car. The thing that could help your car get traction is a shovel to dig into the ground to gain traction. Another thing people use to gain traction is wood under their tire or cat litter. Having a set of tire chains helps your tires gain traction by providing extra grip even while driving. Having an ice scraper is something every car should have to help clear the windshield. If your car doesn't come with a tow hook, it is a smart investment to get one so someone can pull your car out if you are stuck. But if your car is broken, it is a good thing to keep a blanket to stay warm and a phone charger so you can keep your phone charged in case of an emergency. Also, having a flashlight is very handy to have with you. Another thing people use is a flare or a bright light to show people that you are broken down.
