Wildcats (5-1) Maul The Panthers (6-1) 83-75

By Aiden Gallagher

Game Summary:

Powell’s winning streak is over. Tuesday night the Panthers fell to the Wildcats 83-75. The Wildcats were led by Senior PG Kaden Brighthorp with an electric 28-point performance. The Wildcats had a big presence inside which allowed them to lock down the paint the whole night, limiting big man Nate Russell to 3 points. Nate came into the game averaging 16.5 points per game so his lack of scoring certainly limited their offensive production. Oak Ridge was also able to get to the paint on offense with Brighthorp scoring 22 of his 28 points in the paint. 6’6 PF Garret Giles was able to score 9 and was a presence in the paint on defense the whole night.

Biggest Storylines:

Powell:

Despite the loss, Senior Guard Kaleb Walker had a 26-point performance, and the two guards were dueling the whole night. Walker also scored 15 from deep, showcasing his ability to get to the basket off the dribble and punish the defense when they sagged off of him.

Oak Ridge:

One of Oak Ridge's weaknesses was their ability to play defense on the interior. Tuesday night they showed that they are more than capable of doing so, and if they keep it up look for them to keep winning.
