In honor of the Powell Panthers making it to the State Quarterfinals, here is a previous prediction for a past game.

The Powell Panthers are set to get back in the win collum following back-to-back losses for the first time in 371 days. The Panthers will have to protect the football better, after a challenging game last week at Blankenship Field. Something that jumped at you in the loss last week was the absolute blunder on special teams when Powell attempted an onside kick. The lack of coverage resulted in the Wildcats returning the kick for a touchdown, pushing their lead to 14. The Mountaineers of Heritage will make a long trip to the jungle, so this may affect their play on Friday.

Matchup History:

The Panthers and Mountaineers go into their 3rd all-time meeting the last coming in 2016, so these are very different teams. The Panthers are 0-2 all-time against the Mountaineers so they will look to take them down for the first time.

Impact Players:

Powell:

Junior RB Connor Wheeler looks to shoulder the offensive load again against the Mountaineers this week. The Heritage run defence has been somewhat disappointing thus far so look for Wheeler to have another big night.

Heritage:

Mountaineer QB Wesley Deck has proven himself to be an elite QB. He threw for nearly 800 yards good enough for 10th among all QBs in the state. Powell’s secondary will have to play their best ball to stop him.

 Was The Prediction Correct?

Yes, the prediction was correct. The Powell Panthers won 47-17.
