November 9th Book Review

By Jayla Rucker

November 9th by Colleen Hoover is about family, love, loyalty, healing, acceptance, and forgiveness. This book follows two main characters Fallon and an aspiring novelist Ben. They meet each other at the age of 18, at a restaurant. Ben fakes being Fallon's boyfriend so someone can finally stand up to her father. Fallon and her father have a rough relationship due to something traumatic that happened in the past. The night they meet is the same night Fallon is packing to move across the country to continue to follow her dreams. They end up spending the whole day together due to overall attraction. Ben finds Fallon's life entertaining and just what he's been looking for, for his novel. They come to an agreement to meet at the same place at the same time every year. Fallon decides not to share contact info with him nor any other social media platform. This meetup each year continues to occur until one day Fallon becomes unsure if Ben has been telling the truth or not. November 9th ends up being a bittersweet love story. I ended up giving this a 4 out of stars mainly because I'm very picky with what I give 5 stars. But this book ended up being very thrilling and filled with plot twists. To the point, you want to keep flipping pages. Most people want to know if Colleen Hoover’s books are over-hyped but my personal opinion is every book I've read is better than the last one. Over the past few years, Collen’s books have gotten a ton of recognition from booktok and booktube. Some people hate her writing, others love it. Each book is filled with plot twists and her writing is phenomenal. In conclusion, I think Colleen Hoover’s books deserve all the hype.
