Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, known as Doja Cat, rose to fame in mid-2018, according to Wikipedia. She released the song “Mooo!” with lyrics such as “I go moo (I'm a cow, I'm a cow, I'm a cow)” along with her 2018 album, “Amala”. The number of her followers increased rapidly on her Instagram and Twitter as her songs gained traction.

Late in 2019, she revealed her most hyped record “Hot Pink”, with songs such as “Say So” and “Streets”. Then, in the middle of 2021, she released “Planet Her”. It’s one of her most popular records to date, but, it’s also where her downfall started—from attending racist online chat rooms to surprising her fans with her unexpected actions. She recently posted a series of now-deleted tweets that attacked her fans for having a fan-base name. She even told some fans to “get off your phone and get a job.” Doja also attacked a fan page on Instagram for using her real name.

Fans also were offended when she started dating a Twitch streamer named Jeffery Cyrus. Jeffery has been accused of sexual misconduct and racism on Twitter/X.

Her new song, “Attention”, calls out her fans for criticizing both her and her boyfriend. She uses lyrics such as “I read it, all the comments sayin’, ‘D, I’m really shooketh’.”. Many Twitter/X users state that Doja proved that canceled culture doesn’t exist. Doja’s other song, “Paint the Town Red”,  was on “Billboard Hot 100” for 5+ weeks. Recently, at the Video Music Awards, she won “Best Art Direction” for her song “Attention”.

Overall, Doja has proved that cancel culture is a thing of the past, and we need to continue to move on.
