My Fault Book Review

By Shelby Rule

¨My Fault¨ by Mercedes Ron is a book about a mother and daughter, Rafaella and Noah, moving from Canada to California to live with Rafealla's new husband, William Liester, and his son Nick. Noah was upset over leaving her friends and boyfriend (Dan) to start a new life in a completely new environment. The book has both Noah's and Nick's perspectives, so you can know what both are feeling throughout the novel. During the first few chapters, Noah and Nick despise each other, they are always arguing and insulting each other. Noah finds out secrets about Nick and threatens to expose him to his father. Noah and Nick soon realize that they have things in common and are not so different. Towards the middle of the book, Noah starts to develop feelings for Nick and she knows it is wrong because they are step-siblings and his idea of love is completely different than hers. Nick hates the idea of love and just uses girls for his needs, but Noah changes his perspective on love. Noah and Nick both have dark secrets that no one knows about and they help each other overcome them. They get together towards the middle/end of the book, their parents don´t mind because of how much they´ve helped each other. In the last few chapters, something happens to Noah, her abusive father kidnaps her and threatens to kill her. Nick is scared of losing her because Noah is the first girl who has the ability to change the way Nick is. Noah is safe and returns back to Nick and their parents and everything is good. I gave this book a ⅘ because it was an interesting book, there were no boring parts to it, but I felt like they got together way too fast. The book has 49 chapters and they got together pretty fast for them to despise each other and be step-siblings. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes enemies to lovers.
