Israel vs Hamas

      The war between Israel and Hamas has begun to escalate, but in order to understand exactly why these two are fighting we have to have some background knowledge. According to MSNBC News the feud dates as far back as biblical times. Hamas is said to be one of the longest-running terrorist groups in the region. It has been causing issues in Israel for decades such as suicide bombings and attacking civilians since coming to power in 1986. Something that is very interesting is that after these attacks Hamas will come out and say it was them almost like they are proud of the attacks and want credit for them. Other surrounding countries are trying to avoid and stay out of the war.

    The war has reached a new level of violence. On October 7, 2023, Hamas attacked Israel killing over 1400 people. A music festival occurred, and a search and rescue team found over 250 bodies. Israeli has vowed to exterminate Hamas sent warplanes and bombed the Gaza strip causing 400 Palestinians to be killed and 2,000 injured according to BBC News. There are said to be more than 200 hostages taken to Gaza. This conflict is said to have caused the largest loss of life within the region in decades. General Danial Hagari spoke at a press meeting to prepare for a long and dangerous war ahead. Israel has told their citizens who live near Gaza to leave and clear out the area for their safety.
