4 out of 5 Paws

Are you a FNAF Fan? You are in luck with the new Five Nights At Freddy’s movie on October 27, 2023.  This film has two well-known stars, Matthew Lillard and Josh Hutcherson. This movie has a mix of all the games that Scott Cawthon made. The games have many animatronics, but the main 4 are Chica the Chicken, Freddy the Bear, Bonnie the Bunny, and Foxy the Fox. There are many other characters and versions of the main 4. The first game was supposed just to be an indie game but very quickly became the more popular horror game to this day.

There are 9 FNAF games in total, and there are Five Nights at Freddy’s (2014), Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 (2014), Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 (2015), Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 (2015), Five Nights at Freddy’s: Sister Location (2016), Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator (2017), Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted (2019), Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach (2021), Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach- RUIN (2023), Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted 2 (2023). These games are about the 4 main animatronics that are possessed by the spirits of children murdered by restaurant cofounder and overarching franchise antagonist William Afton, who stuffed the bodies inside the animatronics, and then accidentally killed himself when he placed himself in springtrap. Though this scene is also in the movie, it's slightly different. It has a more realistic feel as he says the iconic line “I always come back” while Afton’s lungs drain of air and fill with blood from his wounds.

There are quite a few people who were expecting gore in the new movie, and many were disappointed when there was barely any. The scenes had a little blood but the killings were very plain. But, the actual games aren’t gorey either, they also have very subdued deaths. The fans of the games find this movie to be incorrect to the lore, but they don’t know that it is more targeted to the books rather than the games. The movie was also held back from release because fans didn’t like how the eyes looked even though they followed the look in the games. Most of the true FNAF fans liked this movie just because they got one after so long. The new fans didn’t care for it or straight-up hated it because they didn’t think it matched the games or it was too PG-13.

I liked the movie, I thought it was good even if I didn’t know all the lore. I liked how the animatronics looked and acted. The characters were likable and smart. Overall, I think most people would agree with that opinion.
