After a tremendous home win 91-43 over Campbell County High School last Tuesday, our Panther boys basketball team has lost 3 straight games. First, a close game against Anderson County High School ending in a 62-61 loss. Second, a game against Austin East without starting point guard Desmond Billingsley as one of his teammates tells us he had to go to the ER during school and he did not return, we all hope he’s ok. The Panthers lost that game 44-53 but our boys still put up a fight with our very own Riley Bryant putting up 13 points, 1 block, and 4 assists that game while coming in as a sub for Billingsley. Finally, a loss Wednesday against Hardin Valley at HV. The Score was 44-61, another tough pill to swallow for our boys. Hopefully they can learn from their mistakes and start up a winning streak with a win the next game against Knox Central on Friday.
Congratulations to our Powell Lady Panthers Basketball team who also played Austin East on Monday and took a great team victory over them with a score of 56-45. The girls also beat Anderson county at AC last Tuesday the same night the boys played with a score of 67-40. Finally, their most recent game was Wednesday night against Hardin Valley at HV. The Lady Panthers dropped that game with the final score being 61-57. Although it was a close game, our Lady Panthers came up short but it was wonderful seeing The University of Tennessee Cheer squad at halftime when the girls played Austin East at home. They put on a great halftime performance and brought a lot of UT spirit to the Home of the Panthers.
