Close your eyes and imagine your life as an everything bagel. Every single one of these baked rings of dough have a slightly different shape, and they are all cooked slightly different. No matter how different each one is, they are all still bagels. Each one unique, yet similar. These bagels are topped with poppy seeds, sesame seeds, onion flakes, garlic flakes, pretzel salt, and pepper; hence, an everything bagel. These toppings represent the personalities of life. So many choices, and so many different ways of using said choices. Sometimes the choices become too much and they fall off onto the floor. Yet, there is always time to add more and get it right. Some people love baking these toppings into the bagel and some people love cream cheese spread in the middle of a bagel once it’s been cut in half and toasted.
We all love bagels differently. Bagels are life. They are the very enigma to the universe. They are the question and answer to what we must know. They describe the melting pot of people we have in our society. They show our differences and similarities, they show how we can all be unique and perfectly the same. Bagels are the past, present, and future.
