4Ocean

4Oceans purpose: “Our purpose is to end the ocean plastic crisis. We’re here to clean the ocean and coastlines while working to stop the inflow of plastic by changing consumption habits.” The Founders of 4Ocean are Alex and Andrew. They both grew up in Florida, and loved to be on the beach swimming, surfing, and fishing. They met in college, and after becoming good friends, they planned a ‘surf trip of a lifetime’ to Bali. Once in Bali, they saw that the beach was completely covered in trash and plastic. They watched as the shores pushed in more plastic onto the beach. They also learned that the beach had been cleaned by locals just hours before, showing them how bad the ocean plastic crisis really was. Alex and Andrew then designed the 4ocean bracelet and pledged to pull a pound of trash out of the ocean for every bracelet sold. Each bracelet is worth around $20-40 dollars. 4Ocean has events going on all throughout the year. 4Ocean educates the community on the importance of finding alternatives to plastic, steps to help save the ocean from plastic, and educate them about how extreme the ocean plastic crisis really is. Most events not only host a beach cleanup, but an educational village, a festival with panel discussions and live music as well. 4Ocean has currently cleaned up approximately 7,872,146 lbs of trash from Florida, Bali, Haiti, and Guatemala since 2017.
